Anti-Semitism continues to be widespread throughout the Arab and Muslim world, with visible manifestations in the print and broadcast media. ADL monitors the media in the Arab and Muslim world on a daily basis, and sheds the light on manifestations of anti-Jewish hate.

In our review of the Arab and Muslim media in December 2003, several common anti-Semitic themes are apparent:

• demonizing of Jews - presenting the Jews as animals with negative implications, such as snakes.
  
  
• comparing Jews and Israelis to Nazis, using symbols as swastikas.
  
  
• conspiracy theories of Jews wanting to control the world, Jews controlling the Western governments, Jews controlling the world media, Jews owning the world's capital etc.
  
  
• over the past few months a common conspiracy theory in caricatures is of Israel directing or controlling the U.S. administration of Iraq.
  
  
• illustrating the stereotypical Jew (big nose, black coat and hat, skull cap etc.), along with Jewish symbols as the Star of David and the menorah
