Rumor Claims Blockbuster Removed "Paper Clips"

RULE
Monday, November 14, 2005

A rumor circulating by e-mail suggests that the Blockbuster video rental chain "removed from its shelves" DVD copies of the documentary film "Paper Clips." The message claims that Blockbuster may have sinister motivations for removing the film, the story of one town's efforts to remember the victims of the Holocaust.  Some accuse Blockbuster of caving in to Holocaust deniers.

The Anti-Defamation League, which worked closely with the film's producers and has supported the film's use as an educational tool, has determined that the message is untrue.  The League has been in contact with the film's producers and Blockbuster, and they have assured ADL that the film will appear in Blockbuster stores, with a tentative release date of December 6, 2005, as indicated on the Blockbuster web site.
