False Rumor: CNN Fired Israeli Jews in Jerusalem Bureau

RULE
Tuesday, February 14, 2012

A widely-circulated rumor, which appears on a number of web sites and has been sent to many individuals by e-mail, charges that CNN recently fired all of its Jewish employees from the company's Jerusalem bureau, while keeping its Arab employees.  There is no truth to this rumor.

According to a statement published February 11, 2012 on the network's web site, there is "no basis in fact for these reports."  The CNN bureau in Jerusalem was recently reorganized and currently employs four Jewish employees out of seven, according to the statement.

The statement continues, "Some Web site reports also state that CNN's Jerusalem bureau chief is Arab, which is also untrue."
