ADL Training for Florida Law Enforcement
Posted: March 24, 2004
The Anti-Defamation League has been providing training on domestic terrorism and criminal extremism to the Florida law enforcement community. The goal of this training is to equip Florida's police with the knowledge and skills to better predict, prevent, and respond to extremist activity.
In separate training sessions in Palm Beach and Broward, an ADL expert on extremism presented an overview of the extremist movements and groups in the United States that pose the greatest threat of criminal activity, up to and including domestic terrorism. He provided insights into the ideology and tactics of such groups, as well as the latest trends in extremism.
Each law enforcement officer in attendance received a copy of Dangerous Convictions, ADL's in-depth report on extremist activities in America's prisons, as well as a copy of Hate on Display, the pocket guide to extremist symbols and tattoos.
Representatives from 9 different law enforcement agencies across Palm Beach and Martin counties, including the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, West Palm Beach Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, attended the training session.
The following day, at an in-service training hosted by the Broward Country Sheriff's Office, he presented to law enforcement officials from throughout Broward County, including Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Plantation, Tamarac, Deerfield Beach, and Miramar.
