ADL Distributes 'Passion' Viewing Guide For Teens
New York, NY, March 2, 2004…The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has released an online guide on Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" to explain its concerns to teenagers who choose to view the movie. Things Teens Should Know about Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" provides youth who have or will view the movie with the tools they need to draw their own conclusions regarding the movie. The guide also offers tips for young people who are confronted with hateful rhetoric stemming from Gibson's "unambiguous portrayal" of the Jews as responsible for the death of Christ.
"While we hope that "The Passion of the Christ" will not fuel anti-Semitism, it is important to empower teenagers with the tools they need respond to any hateful speech they may encounter and to participate in discussions regarding this movie," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.
Things Teens Should Know about Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" was developed by ADL Southwest/Atlanta Regional Office.
