New York, NY, November 8, 2006 ... More than 110 ethnically and racially diverse high school students from 11 cities across the country will travel to Washington, D.C. to learn about the Holocaust and how to apply the imperative of "Never Again" as they encounter bigotry and prejudice in their own lives, schools and communities.

The ninth annual ADL Grosfeld Family National Youth Leadership Mission to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, which will be held from Sunday, November 12 through Wednesday, November 15, is an effort to motivate students to fight prejudice and to become positive agents for change through historic and contemporary examples of moral courage, with a visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and survivor testimony as a moving centerpiece.

"We know that no one is born a bigot -- that hatred is learned, and can be unlearned," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "The Holocaust serves as a powerful example of what can happen when racism and anti-Semitism go unchecked, and also as a reminder of how lives can be saved when good people are willing to stand up and to say 'no' to hate and bigotry."

The students, selected for their leadership potential and demonstrated interest in issues of diversity, hail from Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Florida, Las Vegas, New Orleans, New York, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

They will hear from Mr. Foxman, who was saved by his Polish Catholic nursemaid, and other Holocaust survivors, as well as survivor of the genocide in Rwanda.  The students will also visit the Holocaust Museum and participate in interactive workshop sessions designed by the League's award-winning A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute.

The student delegates are also scheduled to attend the 12th Annual ADL Concert Against Hate on Tuesday, November 14 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra and honoring four heroes who have made a difference in the fight against hate.

The ADL Grosfeld Family National Youth Leadership Mission was founded in 1996 by ADL's Greater Chicago/Upper Midwest Regional Office.  The Mission became a national program in 1998, building on the success of previous programs in preparing students as role models against bigotry, prejudice and hate.
