ADL Condemns Professor's Comments Calling Trade Center Victims 'Little Eichmanns'
Denver, January 28, 2005 – The Mountain States Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today condemned University of Colorado Professor Ward Churchill's comments that the World Trade Center victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were "little Eichmanns."
Bruce H. DeBoskey, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, issued the following statement:
It is truly shocking, on the date when the rest of the world stopped to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz from the murderous plans of the Nazis, to read the comments of Professor Ward Churchill.
The professor shows a heartless and ignorant sense of history when he compares the actions of Adolf Eichmann, who personally planned the Nazi "Final Solution" to kill Jews, to the work of the innocent office workers, janitors, emergency personnel, and bystanders who were killed in the attack on the World Trade Center. It is callous and inappropriate to use Holocaust analogies.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
