ADL Denounces UN Human Rights Commission Anti-Israel Resolution
New York, N.Y., April 16, 2002 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today denounced a U.N. Human Rights Commission resolution condemning Israel for alleged mass killings of Palestinians, saying "at this point, anything the Commission does should not be taken seriously."
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, said:
At this point, anything the U.N. Human Rights Commission does should not be taken seriously. It is losing all moral credibility by referring to one-sided reports of "acts of mass killings perpetrated by the Israeli occupying authorities."
Once again, the Commission is making a mockery of its title and mandate- human rights. This resolution is shameful because it buys into Palestinian propaganda about alleged massacres and because it never once speaks of the suicide murders inflicted by Palestinian terrorists against innocent Israelis.
ADL expressed appreciation to the five nations who voted against resolution- Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Germany and Guatemala.
The resolution was supported by 40 of the 53 member states, including France, where anti-Semitic acts have been spiraling out of control.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
