ADL Produces Spanish-Language Advocacy Guide For Israel
New York, NY, August 7, 2008 … To help Spanish speakers understand and counteract common misconceptions about Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) produced a Spanish-language edition of its Israel advocacy guide.
Israel: Una Guía para el Activista is a one-stop resource about Israel for Jewish communities in Latin America and Spain, and Spanish speakers everywhere. The guide offers background of key events in Israel's history and lays out essential points to help challenge anti-Israel propaganda. It also identifies common inaccuracies about Israel and offers strategies for getting the facts to elected officials, the media and around university campuses.
"Strong demand for our Israel advocacy guide has spilled over into the Spanish-speaking world," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "With the ongoing conflict in the region, there are those who continue to level unfair and inaccurate accusations against Israel. The Spanish-language edition of the guide is a critical resource for those in Latin America, Spain and Spanish speaking communities worldwide who wish to counter those misconceptions."
Israel: Una Guía para el Activista provides both substantive talking points and practical "how-to" guidance to help challenge anti-Israel propaganda. Key sections of the guide include: Tools for Advocacy, Responses to Common Inaccuracies About Israel, and a Glossary of Key Terms/Events in Israel's History. The online guide also includes Internet links to other Israel resources, including news sites and think tanks.
The original English edition of the Activist's Guide was introduced by the League in October 2001 and distributed throughout ADL's 30 Regional Offices. It was also made widely available to national Jewish organizations, federations, Hillels and local synagogues and community groups. Both editions of the guide are regularly updated online.
The Spanish-language edition of the guide may be accessed through ADL's new Hispanic/Latino Affairs Resource Center at http://www.adl.org/latino_affairs/.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
