ADL Welcomes Komen For The Cure's Efforts To Have Israelis Participate In Egyptian Events

New York, NY, October 23, 2009 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) welcomed efforts by Susan G. Komen for the Cure to ensure that Israelis, who were denied by Egypt from participating in events to raise awareness of breast cancer, would have their invitations reinstated.

"We appreciate the efforts of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to get the Israelis reinstated as participants at the events in Egypt," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.

Breast cancer advocates from the United States and across the Middle East are meeting in Egypt October 21-27 for breast cancer awareness events.

On the eve of the events, a number of Israelis who planned on participating were notified by Egyptian authorities that their invitations were no longer valid.  That prompted ADL to reach out to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, urging the breast cancer awareness organization to ensure Israel would not be unfairly excluded.
