ADL Commends Successful Prosecution of Osama Bin Laden Conspirators
New York, N.Y., May 30, 2001 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today
commended the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, for its
successful efforts in bringing to justice those involved in the U.S. embassy
bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. The League also commended the jury for handing
down a guilty verdict. The four defendants in the case were convicted of
conspiring with Osama bin Laden to bomb the American Embassies in Kenya and
Tanzania in 1998.
"We commend the U.S. Attorney’s Office for its efforts and commitment
to apprehend and bring to justice those responsible for these horrendous crimes
against Americans and others," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National
Director. "The trial exposed the complex nature of Osama bin Laden’s
global terror network. The guilty verdicts are a triumph in the global battle
against international terrorism."
