Lutherans

ADL published a new booklet, Luther and Judaism, which discusses the anti-Semitic writings of the founder of Protestantism, Martin Luther, and the condemnation of those writings by contemporary Lutheran groups in the United States and Europe.

Presbyterians

As part of ADL's Interfaith Affairs Department's work with the Presbyterian Church, a Presbyterian publication published an ADL article on the Jewish understanding of the Christian millennium. The article noted, "We can celebrate the year 2000 or the year 5760, but all faith communities need to reflect on the human possibilities of evil. Otherwise, we will continue the old ways after a lovely celebration of a new Christian millennium."

Passion Play

This play about the death of Jesus, performed for centuries in Oberammergau, Germany, has long been controversial because of its negative, stereotypical portrayals of Jews. ADL worked closely with local authorities to eliminate the anti-Semitic aspects of the play in time for its production in the year 2000.
