International Leadership

When looking at anti-Semitism and other hatreds, ADL has gone beyond the shores of the United States to take a longer view a worldview.

ADL has established an international reputation, and is called upon by foreign governments as a resource in assessing and counteracting intolerance in their countries.
With new democracies emerging from behind the former Iron Curtain, the situation in many countries has become more insecure for Jews and other minorities as old ethnic hatreds, long suppressed in the Communist bloc and elsewhere, have returned to the surface.

Throughout 1998, ADL was active globally: working to support the Middle-East peace process, promoting a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, seeking justice and proper memorializing for the victims of the Holocaust, speaking out against anti-Semitism worldwide, and acting as a resource to Jewish communities around the world.
