International Programs
A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute has generated these programs internationally:
- In Germany - Building upon the A WORLD OF
DIFFERENCE Institute programs underway in Germany since 1992, the Research Group Youth and
Europe, an academic unit from the Center for Applied Political Research at Munich
University, and the Bertelsmann Science Foundation are working to bring programs to more
German cities, and to publish materials specially prepared for use throughout the country.
- In Israel - The A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute
program began in 1994 with a media campaign on tolerance broadcast simultaneously on both
the Educational Television Channel and the Cable Television Childrens Channel. The A
WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute is accredited by the Ministry of Education.
- Peer Training in Seven European Countries - In
1996, Berlin hosted ADL's first A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute
European Peer Training program. Since then, leaders from Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the
United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands have come together to learn how to
conduct anti-bias training workshops for people their own age. This Peer Training program
has been developed in cooperation with and organized by the Centre Européen Juif
dInformation (CEJI).
- European Teacher Training - In cooperation with
CEJI, A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute teacher training programs began in Belgium, France,
Italy and the Netherlands in 1997 through support from the European Year Against Racism
and the Action 2 of the COMENIUS programme of the European Union.
- Other Institute Programs - In Vienna, Austria,
Moscow, Russia, and at the invitation of the International Movement Against All Forms of
Discrimination and Racism (IMADR) in Okasa, Japan, the Institute has trained educators and
other professionals.
Cantor-Fitzgerald Center for Research on Diversity in Education
The A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute programs are developed and evaluated by a highly
professional research department that interacts continually with its specially trained
professionals in the field. The research department is augmented by the Cantor-Fitzgerald
Center for Research on Diversity in Education, established jointly by the University of
Pennsylvania and ADL in 1996. The Center evaluates programs and materials, ensuring that
their efficacy has been scrutinized.
