On March 26, 2004, Robert J. Kubisch pleaded guilty to blowing up dozens of mailboxes and writing anti-Semitic and racist graffiti in Somerset County, New Jersey.
Kubisch, 49, pleaded guilty to arson and to possessing a prohibited weapon and destructive devices for unlawful purposes. Kubisch also pleaded guilty to bias intimidation and bias harassment charges for writing racist and anti-Semitic graffiti, including "Bring Back Hitler." Over a five-year period, Kubisch destroyed numerous mailboxes and scrawled anti-Semitic and racist graffiti in Bridgewater and neighboring Warren Township. Some of the graffiti threatened Bridgewater's mayor and former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman, according to authorities.
Under a plea agreement, the prosecutor will recommend a 10-year sentence. Kubisch faces similar charges on Massachusetts.
