Detectives in Cinnaminson arrested two teenage boys who claim to be white supremacists for the alleged torture and shooting death of a dog.
The boys, ages 15 and 17, were charged on March 19, 2009, in Burlington County Superior Court with animal cruelty, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. The alleged incident occurred in the woods behind an elementary school.
On March 20, additional charges of committing a crime on behalf of a criminal street gang and solicitation of another to join a criminal street gang were filed against both defendants. These charges could result in the trial moving out of juvenile court.
An investigation by detectives and a Cinnaminson School Resource Officer led to the identification of the two defendants.
According to Cinnaminson detectives, the boys confessed to torturing and killing the black Labrador Retriever, adding that they had also killed rabbits and squirrels. The boys also purportedly claimed to be members of the white supremacist group Aryan Nations. Detectives reported finding racist and skinhead materials in the boys' possession.
The 15-year-old defendant is being held in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center in Pemberton Township until his April hearing. The 17-year-old was released to the custody of his mother.
