Education to Combat Extremism and Hate Crimes RULE

When bias and prejudice are left unchecked, they may escalate to harassment, violence, and other acts of hate. ADL's understands that education is the strongest antidote to hate.

Programs for:

Educators and School Administrators

  • Hate Crimes: An Insidious and Growing Phenomenon: A half-day program that provides educators, administrators and other leaders in the community with information and training to assist in recognizing, combating and preventing bias-related incidents and crimes through case law and school-based scenarios.

Youth

  • Juvenile Diversion Program: Designed for juveniles who have either perpetrated hate crimes and/or have been identified as at-risk for such behavior in the future. The program, offered as a form of sentencing and/or rehabilitation, provides identified youth the opportunity to learn about the consequences of hate crimes and behaviors on individuals and the community, as well as to gain an understanding and appreciation of the work of civil rights and human relations organizations, such as the ADL. Please note: this program may not be available in all regions.

Youth Leaders, Family members, and Communities

  • No Place for Hate™ Campaign: A broad-based effort that brings leaders and representatives from cultural, community, business, civic, religious, and school-based organizations to plan and implement comprehensive programming for their community to combat bias and promote a respect for diversity. ADL training programs, resource materials and community events are used as a means to promote a ground-swell of support to create hate-free communities across the country. Please note: this program may not be available in all regions.

Colleges and Universities

  • Responding to Hate Crimes On Campus: A workshop that invites diverse representatives from the college campus community to discuss what constitutes a hate crime and to learn how students, faculty and staff can respond as a community to such incidents, as well as to develop strategies to prevent future hate crimes and incidents.

  • Extremism Targets The Campus Press Conference ADL teams up with The New York Times to provide a conference for college and university editors and journalists to combat Holocaust denial and other forms of extremist manipulation of the campus media.
