A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute
Video: "Facing Difference: Living Together on Campus"
Colleges and universities play a major role in preparing students to both live successfully in a pluralistic society, and compete in an increasingly-diverse workforce.
College administrators, faculty, staff and students must be actively engaged in creating a campus environment that not only respects, but also welcomes the many differences found among all members of the campus community. This video is designed to:
- expose students new to the campus environment and to the many issues students might encounter as a result of living and participating in diverse college community;
- help college administrators, faculty, staff and students explore their feelings and attitudes toward issues of prejudice, racism, and bias on campus;
- help college administrators, faculty, staff and students cope with and combat prejudice and discrimination; and
- challenge all members of the campus community to become active in of creating a more harmonious campus community.
ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute operates on the premise that educators are most likely to be successful in integrating anti-bias content and methodology practices in their classrooms when they have had hands-on experience and training with the materials they use. For this reason, ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute curriculum materials are available only within the context of a six-hour (minimum) staff development workshop, and are not for sale through ADL’s Resource catalog. In the interest of providing specific examples of the Institute's curriculum materials, this sample exercise has been made available. For more information on how to organize an A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® Institute training program in your school or community, contact your ADL Regional Office, ADL National Headquarters (212) 885-7700, or by E-mail.
