A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ is designed by experienced human relations specialists for corporations, small businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and professional groups who face the challenges of satisfying a changing customer base while managing a diverse workforce. Creating and managing a diverse workplace is a business imperative for organizations that seek to be competitive, productive and successful in today’s global marketplace.
An inclusive organization makes diversity an integral part of core business goals and values. It links effective management practices that promote and leverage diversity into a comprehensive business strategy.
Fundamental to the success and growth of an organization’s business strategy is training and education. ADL’s A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ anti-bias and diversity training program helps create an inclusive workplace environment that allows all employees to acquire skills critical to the future of an organization’s success.
A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ training programs are specifically designed to assist organizations in exploring ways to promote employee camaraderie and morale, enhance opportunities for recruitment and promotion, improve both client relations and customer loyalty, and increase overall productivity. Moreover, implementation of our programs demonstrates your organization's commitment to addressing comprehensive diversity issues.
The program provides the following:
Analyze the relationship between cultural diversity issues and the organization’s mission, vision and values;
Examine concepts of stereotypes and assumptions and how they impact workplace relationships;
Discuss issues related to bias and discrimination in the workplace, and identify strategies to address them;
Integrate concepts of inclusion and appropriate cross-cultural behaviors in relationships among employees, clients, customers and community members.
A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ has provided more than 265,000 adult workers employed in more than 265 corporations, government agencies or small businesses in the public and private sector with skills to improve communication, reduce conflict and enhance productivity in a diverse workplace.
A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ Offerings
The Institute's training programs utilize experiential exercises targeted for the workplace to promote the appreciation of cultural diversity. A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE™ is available in three formats. Each program agenda not only incorporates an organization’s values, mission and strategic plans, but also promotes the best practices needed for company success, continued customer satisfaction and increased performance enhancement. Applicable to all levels of employees, workshops are highly adaptable to your specific business goals and organizational needs, and are delivered by a team of two training specialists representing ethnic and gender diversity.
Half-Day: provide an introduction to exploring the value of diversity and the harm of bias and prejudice. A focus on identity, culture competency and cross-cultural communication provide a solid foundation for increased personal growth and understanding.
One- or Two-Day: offer greater exploration of issues of diversity, identity, cultural competency and awareness of personal and institutional bias and discrimination in the workplace. Additional emphasis is placed on the necessary skills and strategies needed to effectively confront and combat bias, personal and institutional assessment and planning for the future.
Five-Day Train-The-Trainer: assist organizations in integrating diversity training and education into their overall mission, vision, values planning, and business practices. Through an intensive five-day training process, 20 employees are prepared to deliver ADL’s diversity workshops within the organization on an ongoing basis.
