WHAT IS THE SHANA AMY GLASS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE?
In 1991, a group of five young professionals from Atlanta were introduced to ADL at the National Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. One of these five participants was Shana Amy Glass, whose father, Sherwin, was an active ADL supporter in Georgia. After the conference, Shana and the other participants returned to Atlanta and became a dedicated volunteer in the ADL office. After Shana’s tragic death in 1993, her father, Sherwin, honored her memory by endowing what is now the Shana Amy Glass National Leadership Conference.
Today, this three-day annual ADL conference is attended by approximately 400 participants, most of whom are participants in the Glass Leadership Institute. Conference attendees learn about ADL’s advocacy role and are given the chance to meet with top Administration and Congressional officials, to discuss domestic and foreign policy issues of concern to the Jewish community. They also engage in in-depth conversations with experts in the field of community relations, intergroup and interfaith relations, law enforcement and international affairs.
