To the Editor:
Hussein Ibish gets it wrong when he suggests that Israel should be singled out for criticism at the U.N. World Conference Against Racism (“A Discriminating View of Israel’s Record,” Aug. 31).
Unfortunately, pro-Palestinian activists are trying to hijack an otherwise noble global forum on racism to advance their political agenda, which is to bash the democratic and pluralistic state of Israel. Like many supporters of the Palestinian cause, Mr. Ibish would rather see this conference turned into a platform for anti-Israel invective and hatred.
Singling out Israel for attack and politicizing the U.N. Conference undermines the conference’s worthy humanitarian mission and deprives the most vulnerable victims of racism an important opportunity to voice their concerns.
