Our Mission
It is the mission of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security, to utilize all available resources within state government to develop and implement unified safety and security measures to prevent, mitigate and manage incidents threatening the quality of life of the citizens of the State of Connecticut.

This Office contains the Statewide Anti-Terrorism Task Force and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Intelligence Unit, and the Homeland Security Advisory System.

The Missouri Terrorism Working Group is an informal group made up of approximately 33 federal, state, and a select number of local law enforcement agencies having an interest in terrorism and extremism in Missouri. This group is coordinated jointly by the FBI and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and meets bi-monthly to discuss intelligence information re the criminal activity of individuals and groups as it relates to terrorism. Additionally, the FBI has the ability to disseminate information of an investigative interest on a timely fashion via an E-mail "alert" system to members of the group. |

The Kansas/Missouri Bomb Technician Working Group is a formally organized group of 13 public safety bomb squads who meet and train jointly on a monthly basis to more effectively address improvised explosive devices and "weapons of mass destruction" related to terrorism. The group is coordinated by the FBI, and is supported by FBI Special Agent bomb technicians. Other federal agencies having an interest in bombs and bombings as well as military bomb disposal units are included in the groups activities. The group has successfully worked with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in the past on a bomb related research project, and is currently participation in another NIJ funded project dealing with integration of data used by first responders to WMD and terrorist related incidents. |

The Washington DC Joint Terrorism Task Force, responsible for all

events, such as the Presidential Inauguration and the 50th anniversary of
