Posted: August 27, 2008

An expert from the Anti-Defamation League participated in the 2008 "Gang College," held in Chicago, Illinois, to present information on right-wing extremism.

The conference was organized by the Illinois-based National Gang Crime Research Center.  Approximately 20 law enforcement, corrections and probation officers attended the session, representing agencies from across the country including the United States Air Force; Boone County, Illinois, Sheriff's Department; Genoa, Illinois, Police Department; Wisconsin Department of Corrections; St. Joseph County, Indiana, Police Department; St. Cloud State University; Virginia Beach Public Schools; Bluefield, West Virginia, Housing Authority; Marion, Virginia, Housing Authority; and York County, Pennsylvania, Probation Department.

The training focused on right-wing hate groups and hate symbols, both nationally and locally.  During the conference the ADL expert was presented with the Frederic Milton Thrasher Award for "Superior Service in White Supremacist Gang Training."
