IHR's influence declines
Posted: December 1, 2003
IHR was once the hub around which most Holocaust denial activity in the U.S. converged; it is now merely part of a loose amalgam of unaffiliated like-minded groups and individuals who have their own Web sites and act independently. During the past year, with IHR's Journal of Historical Review apparently defunct, the organization's activities were limited to distributing e-mail article compilations, selling extremist and anti-Semitic literature through its affiliated Noontide Press Web site and organizing several small gatherings for Holocaust deniers and other extremists, including David Irving and former Croatian diplomat Tomislav Sunic. IHR Director Mark Weber has served as the media spokesperson for embattled Holocaust denier Ernst Zündel, according to the Zündel Web site; Weber has given several radio interviews on far-right radio stations regarding the Zündel case, and has also spoken out against the war in Iraq and the influence that he alleges Jews and Israel exert on American policy.
