Tye Anderson, a suicidal Nazi sympathizer from Southington, Connecticut, was arrested on August 14, 2003, for allegedly threatening to kill 12 Connecticut state troopers.

Authorities were informed of Anderson's alleged plot after he checked into the Southington Psychiatric Wellness Center on July 31. Anderson, 39, allegedly told a psychiatrist at the center that he intended to kill 12 state troopers who raided his home nearly three years ago and that he had hired a private detective to locate them. State police had arrested Anderson in November 2000 after finding thee illegal handguns and 100,000 rounds of ammunition in his home.

According to police documents, Anderson also told a nurse at the Wellness Center that his grandfather was a German SS police field marshal and that he enjoys shooting with the "Nazi shooting team" in Waterbury or Watertown.

When Anderson left the center the following day, the staff contacted police, who took him into custody. Anderson was then committed to New Britain General Hospital for an evaluation.

During his hospital stay, police searched his home and found thousands of rounds of ammunition and Nazi-era memorabilia, including uniforms and a picture of Adolph Hitler. Police also searched the home of Anderson's father and found various guns, including three rifles that had allegedly been illegally converted into fully automatic machine guns.

Anderson was arrested upon his release from the hospital over a week later. He was charged in Bristol Superior Court with three counts each of possessing an assault weapon and possessing a machine gun, as well as threatening and breach of peace.

Anderson said after his arrest that he wanted his life to "go out with a bang" and that he wanted to die by "suicide by cop," according to court documents. He remains in custody on $500,000 bail and under suicide watch.
