Anti-Semitism
Egyptian Television Program Features Anti-Semitism RULE
Posted: December 3, 2002

On October 13, 2002, the Egyptian TV channel, An-Nil li-l-Akhbar featured a program titled, "The Legend of Anti-Semitism," which contained virulently anti-Semitic themes, content and images. The discussion centered around the premiere of the TV series, "Horseman Without A Horse" on Egyptian TV and efforts by the United States and other nations to pressure the Egyptian government to cancel the program.

The program's guests accused Zionist organizations in the U.S. and Europe of unfairly attacking Egypt and its leaders for being anti-Semitic. They charged that Israel and the Jews "use the media" in order to control Western thought, and are using the slogan of anti-Semitism as a weapon of incitement in order to attack everyone who criticizes Israel about its hostility towards the Palestinians. The commentators also expressed support for Roger Garaudy and other well-known Holocaust deniers.

The following are excerpts from the show:

Dr. Jamal ar-Rifa'i, Head of the Department of Semite Languages at the University of Ein Shams: "As time goes on, the Zionist groups were able, through false stories, historical deceptions and the fabrication of events, to plant wrong meanings in many people's minds."

Dr. 'Ali al-Ghatit, Deputy Head of the International Lawyers' Association: "They [the Jews] showed that the Zionist movement needed protection, a protection of the media, a media that will scare the others from opposing them or from resisting Zionist thought. It is a long story, which shows a kind of a racial discrimination. They imposed on themselves a racial discrimination when facing others".

Dr. Ahmad 'Izz ad-Din, author and journalist: "From the beginning, the Israelis and the Jews, aimed at falsifying history. They relied on Talmudic stories in order to re-create a new Israeli history for them."

Dr. al-Ghatit: "The story of Garaudy and other writers is not a question of point of view. They make research the truth. They are relying on academic reports and evidences. People went to visit the crematories, the called [crematories] and found they were actually onto something like this and this (percent) of 100 percent that were reported something like 1/6 or 1/10 or less of the surface, and that these crematories were not aimed at burning people, but they had other and different functions. One of the writers who followed these scientific reports, which rely on research made at the location itself, said that the crematories did not exist. It is clear that these are not crematories for humans - theses are crematories for clothes - for the prisoners' clothes or the detainees' clothes, in order to purify them. (It is for) purifying clothes."

At the conclusion of the show, an anti-Semitic cartoon is shown on the screen, with the announcer saying: "The ideological terror operated by Zionist movements and Israel against Arab and Muslim writers and thinkers and those who are related to them, in order to find the faults of anti-Semitism in their writings, is one chapter of the Zionist campaign against Arabs and Muslims in general, and in particular after the September 11th events in NY and Washington. The Arab colonies of immigrants were subject to terror in the US and in European countries, such as attacks and harassments in which Zionist groups and Israel's supporters played the main role concerning incitement against them. That is how anti-Semitism became a tool of the Zionist terror and defense to the Israeli imperialist policy. This is what caused the need for an Arab mean that will deeply beat it in order to demolish the basis of the Zionist terror."
