In His Own Words

An Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for President Ronald Reagan and a former editor of The Wall Street Journal and The National Review, Roberts achieved national prominence in the 1980s as a leading proponent of supply-side economics, a doctrine that argues that economic growth is best fostered through policies - such as relaxing regulation - designed to create incentives for people to produce goods. From the late 1970s until 2006, Roberts' articles (usually on economic matters) appeared in a wide variety of mainstream publications, including The New York Times, where he co-authored an op-ed on free trade with New York Senator Charles Schumer in 2004. (There is no indication that Schumer was aware of Roberts' anti-Semitic views.) He worked for many years as a columnist for Business Week and The Washington Times, and has been syndicated nationally since 1992. Roberts is currently syndicated by Creators Syndicate, a Los Angeles-based service founded in 1987, but mainstream sources have not picked up his columns for publication in the last few years.
