On July 4, 2007, the UK's Transport and General Workers Union voted overwhelmingly in favor of boycotting Israeli goods. 

The resolution reads:

"This conference deplores the actions of the Israeli government in its treatment and attitude towards the Palestinian people in failing to recognise their legitimate aspiration of a Palestinian state. "We therefore call upon conference to support a boycott of Israeli products and goods and call upon the government to take a stronger stance in support of the Palestinian people."

Barry Camfield, the deputy general-secretary of the union, argued that the boycott is not anti-Semitic, rather a political move meant to protest Israeli treatment of Palestinians as well as to call upon the British government to show greater support for the Palestinian people. 

Camfield stated that Britain's support for Jewish victims of the Holocaust serves as evidence that the boycott is not anti-Semitic, according to press reports.  Brid Smith, another union member and boycott supporter, cited the fact that there are Jews that support the boycott as evidence that it is not in fact anti-Semitic. 

The union is the fourth British union to have passed a motion in favor of boycotting Israel.
