New Yorker Charged with Attempting to Aid Hezbollah Posted: October 28, 2009

A Queens man and his apparent accomplice have been charged with attempting to provide weapon, ammunition and vehicles to the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah.

An indictment filed in a New York federal court on October 26, 2009, charged Patrick Nayyar, 45, and Conrad Stanisclaus Mulholland, 43, with conspiracy to provide and providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiracy to make and making a contribution of funds, goods, or services to and for the benefit of Hezbollah. Nayyar, who has also been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, pleaded not guilty to all counts the following day.

Between July and September 2009, Nayyar, an Indian national residing in the U.S. illegally, and Mulholland, a U.K. citizen also known as Conrad Stan, allegedly provided an FBI informant posing as a member of Hezbollah with a handgun, a box of ammunition and a pick-up truck. According to the affidavit, the men also planned to provide the informant with additional guns, ammunition, vehicles, bulletproof vests and night vision goggles to be delivered to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Nayyar, a building superintendant, was arrested in New York on September 24, 2009, for illegally possessing a handgun and hollow-point bullets. If convicted, he faces a sentence of 80 years in prison. Mulholland remains at large.
