Letters to the Editor
The Philadelphia Inquirer

     October 21, 2009

To the Editor:

Once again, Tony Auth has made clear his feelings about the shouldering of responsibility by the Catholic Church for sexual abuse by priests (cartoon, Oct. 21).

There is room for criticism of the church, and Auth is to be respected for his conviction, courage, and persistence. There is no place, however, for Auth to make his point on the back of Catholic sensibilities and to use images and sacred text in a way that can be interpreted as attacks on Christian teachings and the Catholic faith itself.

  Sincerely,

Barry Morrison
Philadelphia Regional Director
