To the Editor:

In his cartoon (June 3), Jeff Darcy grossly misrepresents the recent Gaza flotilla incident. His inaccurate portrayal of the leaders of the flotilla leaves out the well known fact that that the Free Gaza Movement is comprised of long-time anti-Israel extremists who advocate using confrontational tactics against Israel. Organizers of the flotilla embarked on a course that put in danger the lives of those aboard.

Their attempt to break the blockade of Hamas controlled Gaza was a deliberate provocation.  Israel made repeated attempts to avoid a confrontation with the flotilla and had no choice but to defend themselves from the violence that greeted them onboard.  Like many others Darcy is rushing to judge Israel without all of the facts.
