Reflections on the 9/11 Attacks from Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director

On the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we continue to mourn and we remember those who lost their lives in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on that horrific day.

With every day that goes by we appreciate more and more how those several hours have fundamentally changed how we live, how we feel, how we interact, and how we trust -- or do not trust -- others.

The consequences of that fateful day continue to be disruptive of so many of our cherished traditions and values: privacy, trust, security, community.  It reminds us of the values of freedom and democracy, and of how, from time to time, we pay a heavy price to preserve those freedoms and values.  And more than anything else it reminds us to be constantly vigilant.
