ADL Condemns Reported “Price Tag” Attacks on West Bank Mosques

Jerusalem, Israel, April 8, 2013 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today condemned the defacement of two West Bank mosques on April 7, in what appears to be another incident in a series of so-called “price tag” attacks by Jewish extremists.

According to reports, the slogans "price tag" and "stone terror" were spray painted on the walls of two mosques in the Palestinian town of Tuqu’. The graffiti included the words "revenge for Adele Bitton," a reference to an infant who was wounded alongside her mother and two siblings in a stone-throwing incident near the settlement of Ariel last month.

ADL’s Israel office issued the following statement:

We strongly condemn the defamation of the two Mosques in Tuqu’, in what appears to be another in a series of Price Tag attacks by Jewish extremists.

It is particularly shocking that those responsible for this crime seem to believe that invoking the name of Adele Bitton, the young Jewish child who was seriously injured by another act of senseless violence, provided justification for their despicable actions.

Those responsible for the vandalism must be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Israeli law enforcement officials must do more to crack down on Jewish extremists, and take measures to prevent any further Price Tag attacks from occurring.”

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
