Hispanics Learn Security Measures from ADL Amidst National Immigration Debate
Posted: August 3, 2007

Throughout the immigration debate America’s Latino population has become the primary focus of hateful rhetoric and threats of violence which sometimes have been carried out, aided and abetted, and encouraged by white supremacists.

At the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) annual conference in Miami Beach in July, Hispanic activists were challenged to better understand these forces, enhance the security of their organizations, and protect pro-immigrant advocates. The ADL, a longtime coalition partner of NCLR, presented a workshop at the NCLR conference entitled, “Keeping Our Institutions Safe,” with expert speakers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and ADL. The workshop was made possible through the generous support of the Craig Zinn Automotive Group.

As an adjunct to the Conference, ADL also hosted a dinner to celebrate the growing relations between the Latino and Jewish communities, through ADL’s and NCLR’s joint venture. Attending, in addition to ADL and NCLR representatives , were Miami’s political and civic leadership and leaders of other Hispanic agencies.
