- PROVERBS
This activity provides an opportunity for children to identify the meaning and significance of proverbs, to consider common themes in proverbs across cultures, and to create new proverbs that can teach lessons.
- DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES
The purpose of this lesson is to help students recognize that many points of view may
exist on any given topic. While individuals often engage in trying to convince others to
take their position, there is also value in hearing and understanding multiple
perspectives particularly when making decisions.
- THE DOCUMENTS THAT BIND US
A key component of any culture is governance. Our shared culture
as citizens of the United States is influenced by the values in the
Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. This
lesson fosters an understanding of these documents and their impact
on the daily lives of Americans.
- RACIAL SEGREGATION
Students will be able to explain how the poster reflects the racial policies and attitudes in parts of the United States through the 1950's.
- FREEDOM OF RELIGION
Students will be able to explain why the Pilgrims came to the America. Students will examine the first Amendment of the United States constitution with respect to its provisions about religion.
