Leo Frank: Remembering the Past to Stop Antisemitism Today

Frank, a Jewish businessman, was convicted of murdering a young, female employee of his family’s pencil factory in Atlanta. Following a trial tainted by antisemitism, the governor of Georgia reduced Frank’s sentence from the death penalty to life imprisonment. A hate-filled mob – including influential members of the community – dragged Frank from his prison cell and lynched him on August 17, 1915.
