ADL Terrorism Update Newsletter Focuses on Domestic Islamic Extremist Plots

The October edi­tion of Ter­ror­ism Update, ADL’s newslet­ter pro­vid­ing news and analy­sis on inter­na­tional ter­ror­ist organiza­tions and their fol­low­ers in the U.S., is now available.

The feature article provides background on U.S. residents linked to activity motivated by Islamic extremism in 2016. As of the end of September, there have been 32 such individuals, the vast majority of whom supported ISIS.

Follow up articles focus on instances when ISIS claims responsibility for attacks in the U.S. and on the weapons involved in domestic Islamic extremist plots

This edi­tion also includes infor­ma­tion on recent English-language propaganda from both ISIS and Al Qaeda, a new social media hashtag campaign by ISIS supporters, the link between terrorism and anti-Semitism and an overview of Orlando shooter Omar Mateen’s many paths to violence.
