Anti-Semitic Sermon at Friday Prayer in Northern Egypt

  • December 11, 2012

Last Friday, Sheik Ashref Namir delivered an anti-Semitic sermon at a mosque in the Buhaira governorate in Northern Egypt.

The sermon, delivered at the Imam Malik mosque, was marked by allegations that the Jews have “cursed” God, are responsible for murdering God’s apostles and are stingy, greedy and deceitful.

The sermon is the latest example of the increasing popularity of anti-Semitism in Egypt’s public life.

In October of this year, ADL expressed deepening concern over the anti-Semitic rhetoric coming from the highest echelons of Egyptian society after the Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi attended a Friday sermon marked by anti-Semitism.
