Iranian Media Uses Israel’s Security Operation in Gaza to Fuel Anti-Semitism

In the days since Israel began its military operation in Gaza targeting Hamas and other organizations responsible for the ongoing rocket and missile attacks against Israel, the Iranian media has published a number of cartoons replete with anti-Israel and anti-Semitic imagery pertaining to the conflict.

Many of these cartoons were published on the website of the Fars News Agency, the semi-official Iranian government English-language news agency. Iran, whose leaders have made repeated anti-Israel and anti-Semitic statements, is a major supplier of weapons to Hamas and other terrorist organizations involved in attacks against Israel. The Iranian-made long-range Fajr-5 missile is a favorite weapon of Hamas terrorists, and has been used in recent days to target the Israeli civilians in and around Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.

The cartoons in this post are consistent with anti-Semitic caricatures that regularly appear in the Iranian press depicting Jewish and Israeli power over the US and the international community, demonic imagery stereotyping Jews - including big noses, black coats and hats – blood libels and the use of animal references to sinisterly portray Israel.
