Protest in NYC Compares Israel to Nazi Germany

In New York on Tuesday, hundreds of protesters turned out in the pouring rain to hold a demonstration against Israel outside the United Nations.

The protest featured numerous signs comparing Israel to Nazi Germany, including those that read, “It Wasn’t OK in Nazi Germany, Why is it OK in Palestine,” “One Holocaust Does not Justify Another” and “UN Must Stop Muslim Holocaust in Gaza.” One sign read, “Spot the Difference” and featured a picture of Hitler and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Comparing Israel’s defensive actions in the past week and a half, which have resulted in the deaths of approximately 200 Gazans, to the genocidal murder of ten million people, including six million Jews, is simply outrageous.

It is also distressing that anti-Zionist Jews participate in these protests despite the signage described above. Indeed, activists from Neturei Karta attended yesterday’s rally. Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, Neturei Karta’s spokesperson, addressed the crowd to say that Israel is a “villain” and a “Zionist cancer.” He also said that the “root cause of this endless river of bloodshed” is Zionism.

Elsewhere across the country protests were held in Burlington, Vermont and Honolulu, HI. The last time an anti-Israel protest took place in Hawaii was close to six years ago during the 2008-2009 Gaza War.
