We mourn the passing of Ralph Goldman, longtime head of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and a unique American Jewish leader.

His service to the Jewish people was unmatched over many decades. His passion and joy for the important work he did every day were inspiring.

Whether it was Israel, Jews in the Soviet Union or the smallest Jewish community in remote places around the globe, Ralph cared and did something about it.

On his death, we celebrate his life. We will miss him.

Goldman, who died at the age of 100, was a close confident and adviser to David Ben-Gurion and served in numerous capacities during his long career, including as executive director of the American-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Israel Education Fund.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency has more on his remarkable life.
