Suspect Arrested After Shooting at California Police Officer

A suspected white supremacist was arrested in Chula Vista, California, for allegedly shooting at a police officer.

Ryan Lyle Goforth, 21, of Murrieta, fired a shot on June 7 at a Chula Vista police officer outside a middle school, barely missing her, according to authorities.

The officer arrived at the school to investigate a report of illegal fireworks and found Goforth and two other men, police said. Goforth, a convicted burglar, then allegedly pulled a gun and fired a shot that hit the officer’s patrol car.  The two other men, both from Riverside County, initially fled but were soon arrested on suspicion of evading police.

Goforth, who has a shaved head and a swastika tattooed on his right forearm, turned himself in several hours later.  He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

“We believe he belongs to an Aryan group, but we don’t know which one at this time,” police Lt. Scott Arsenault said.
