Letter to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry

July 11, 2014

The Honorable John Kerry
Secretary of State
2201 C Street, NW
Washington, DC 20520

Dear Mr. Secretary,

I wanted to reach out to recognize the clarity and strength of the message emanating from the State Department in these critical days of rocket attacks across Israel.

As the world speaks about “de-escalation” by two equals, it is vital for the United States to be laying down these important markers: the burden of responsibility lies squarely on the terrorist organization deliberately targeting civilians and that any democratic state is bound to protect its citizenry and to act resolutely to deter terrorist aggression.

America’s leadership and moral clarity sets an important standard. It will do more to protect human life than those who seek to equate both sides and who ignore the fundamental nature of this confrontation.
