ADL Condemns Offensive Samaria Committee Video

New York, NY, February 16, 2015 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed the prompt and clear condemnation by Israeli leaders across the political spectrum of a deeply offensive online video by the Samaria Citizens Committee, which resorts to blatant Holocaust analogies and anti-Semitic stereotypes to pillory left-wing organizations for taking money from European sources.

“Israelis across the political spectrum were absolutely correct in condemning this unacceptable and incendiary piece of propaganda, which uses offensive Nazi analogies and anti-Semitic stereotypes to incite hatred and divide society,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor. “Holocaust analogies are never acceptable and should certainly not be used to make a political point.”

The video, titled “The Eternal Jew” in a nod to an anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda film of the same name, attacks Israeli human rights and left-wing organizations for taking money from European sources. It implicitly depicts a European funder as a Nazi, and ascribes to all European funders anti-Semitic attitudes, while portraying Israeli non-governmental organizations with stereotypical Jewish characteristics.

The video closes with the logos of various left-wing Israeli NGOs such as Peace Now, Machshom Watch, B’tselem and The New Israel Fund.

ADL is the world’s leading anti-hate organization. Founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of anti-Semitism and bigotry, its timeless mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all. Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of hate with the same vigor and passion. A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education, and fighting hate online, ADL is the first call when acts of anti-Semitism occur. ADL’s ultimate goal is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or hate.
