ADL Expresses Solidarity With People Of Southern Israel As They Endure Another Barrage Of Rockets From Gaza

New York, NY, March 11, 2012 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed solidarity with the people of southern Israel who, over the past few days, have been the target of hundreds of rockets launched from the Gaza Strip. The rockets, launched by Gaza-based terrorist organizations, have reached as far as Be'er Sheva, terrorizing and endangering hundreds of thousands of Israeli civilians.

In the past two days more than 130 rockets have been fired from Gaza at major population centers in southern Israel. Four people were wounded, one seriously, during the first barrage of rocket fire on Friday.

Robert G. Sugarman, ADL National Chair, and Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director issued the following statement:

We express solidarity with the people of southern Israel, who once again have been forced into safe rooms and shelters under the onslaught of rockets from Gaza. The terrorists launching these rockets aim to kill and injure as many people and destroy as much property as possible. We further express our support for the government of Israel and their efforts to protect their people and defend their land.

The clear condemnation of these attacks by the United States is welcome. We call on the entire international community to speak out against the renewed violent assault on Israel from Gaza.

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Today it is the world’s leading organization combating anti-Semitism, exposing hate groups, training law enforcement on hate crimes, developing anti-bias education programs for students, countering cyber-hate and relentlessly pursuing equal rights for all.
