ADL Statement on Fatal Police Shooting of Andre Hill

New York, NY, December 29, 2020 ... ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) issued the following statement regarding the fatal police shooting of Andre Hill in Columbus, Ohio:

In solidarity with the Black community, we join calls for accountability in the fatal shooting of Andre Hill, a Black man killed by a Columbus, OH police officer. This shooting comes on the heels of the killing of yet another Black person, Casey Goodson Jr., by a Franklin County Sheriff's deputy just a few weeks ago. These heinous police shootings must stop. Firing the officer involved was a necessary first step, but change requires real accountability, justice, and meaningful action to dismantle systemic injustice and racism. The former police officer needs to be held responsible for his actions to the fullest extent of our legal system. Black Lives Matter.
