ADL Welcomes Samantha Power Confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.

New York, NY, August 1, 2013 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed the confirmation by the Senate of Samantha Power and expressed confidence in her role as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:

We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Samantha Power on her well-deserved confirmation as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.  Advancing America’s interests and values in the United Nations will be enhanced by her clear voice and moral courage.

President Obama has wisely chosen an emissary who deeply understands the U.N. system and its human rights mechanisms and is committed to fight the injustice of their abuse to target Israel’s legitimacy.  We commend President Obama and the Senate and we look forward to working with Ambassador Power in her new post.

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Today it is the world’s leading organization combating anti-Semitism, exposing hate groups, training law enforcement on hate crimes, developing anti-bias education programs for students, countering cyber-hate and relentlessly pursuing equal rights for all.
