Letter to the Director General of UNESCO

October 20, 2015

The Honorable Irina Bokova
Director General
7, place de Fontenoy
75352 Paris 07 SP, France

Dear Madam Director General:

We are writing to express our appreciation for your important statement this morning condemning a resolution which would alter UNESCO’s consideration of the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

We full-heartedly agree with your appeal to the Executive Board to “not further inflame tensions on the ground and that encourage respect for the sanctity of the Holy Sites.”

Particularly at this time when Israeli civilians are being attacked on the streets by young Muslims who have been inspired and incited by blatant misinformation about Israeli policies towards holy sites, it is vital that the international community and UNESCO work to reduce tensions and promote true religious respect and understanding.
