Dear Mr. and Mrs. Khan,
As a civil rights and human relations organization dedicated to fighting hatred and bigotry and to safeguarding religious liberty for all Americans, we are inspired by your courage and your faith in America. We honor the ultimate sacrifice your son, Captain Humayun Khan, made when he gave his life for our country. You, and he, represent America at its best.
It is hard to imagine how anyone who has seen and heard your clarion call could not be profoundly moved. We share the hope that your voices will have an impact on American attitudes about Muslims. Every American, regardless of political affiliation, should take to heart your underlying message about the evils of prejudice and stereotyping.
The Anti-Defamation League is committed to continuing our efforts to secure justice and fair treatment for all. We stand with you in believing that America’s future as a pluralistic democracy depends upon mutual respect and appreciation for the principles of liberty and equality on which this nation of immigrants was built.
With all best wishes.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Greenblatt
CEO of the Anti-Defamation League
