Lutheran Synod's Program is About Deception, Subterfuge

To the Editor:

No one should have the wool pulled over her eyes regarding the outreach efforts of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and specifically its Chai v’ Shalom program ("Spiritual incursion," March 8). This is not an effort to embrace Jews for who they are; rather, it is a wholesale effort to convert them.

If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are a Christian. Regardless of how much you cloak yourself in the language, ritual and traditional dress of the Jewish people, you are a member of the Christian faith.

For nearly two decades, the Anti-Defamation League has educated this community about the deeply offensive proselytizing goals of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  This program is about deception and subterfuge, not about love for the Jewish people.

Sincerely,

Karen J. Aroesty
